Cleaning for a New Year
CCCU Final Year Project
The project, lasts for two semesters (from September 2015 to April 2016), was to cooperate with an external organisation and go through the whole process of holding events. The project had to improve the organisation's reputation and raise awareness to a certain topic.

About the Team
The Team of the Project consisted of 4 classmates (from left to right):
Tiffany Chau, the contact person and designer of promotional material
Jackie Lau, the designer of booths in the campus and exhibition
Joshua Chan, the photographer and video editor of the promotional video
Danny Ng (that's me!), the leader, contact person and editor of event highlight video

About the Host
The host of this PR project is Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong (HFH), the Hong Kong branch of a worldwide non-profit organisation. Its main goal is to provide affordable housings for people in need, and it has focused on improving the living environment for underprivileged families since its establishment in 1976.
The Hong Kong division provides renovations for houses of disadvantaged people through “Project Home Works” and educates students on housing problems through “Project School Works” and other campaigns. In addition, HFH Hong Kong recruits volunteers for some overseas home building projects under the project named Youth BUILD.

Goals of the Project
Raise awareness of Habitat for Humanity in Hong Kong
Raise awareness of the housing problems for low income residents in Hong Kong
Steps We Took

Meetings
September - December 2015
During the first semester, we held a great number of meetings with team members. These meetings were mainly for discussing which organisation we should work with and, subsequently, what activities we should hold.
After contacting the potential Host, we started meeting the representative in December.
Activities We Held
On-campus Booth
25 January - 2 February 2016
The first activity is the booths in both CCCU and City University.
Despite having not-so-good weather condition during the period, we persisted in introducing the organisations by giving out leaflets and souvenirs.
We also welcomed visitors to donate money by purchasing specialties or drop it directly into a specially-made box.

House Cleaning Event
6 February 2016
Another activity in my FYP is the house cleaning event. The event is held exactly two days before the Chinese New Year, the day traditionally known as the "housing cleaning day".
The participants were divided into three groups, with each group cleaned a flat with the assistance of volunteers from the Host. At the end of the event, each participant was given a certificate of participation.
The flat owner featured in the following slideshow and the event highlight video has a special identity. Read on to find out!

Promotional Video
March - April 2016
As the final product of the Project, I cooperated with the Host and my team mates to produce a video featuring a recap of our activities and an introduction of the Host.
Watch the video here!

Outcomes we Achieved

Booth Visitors
Over 700
In the six days of holding on-campus booths, we welcomed over 700 visitors in total, which is a satisfactory figure for our team. It is because the weather had been rather cold those days, especially in the first three days.

Event Participants
15
The team had been having hard time recruiting participants for the house cleaning event, and we finally managed to have 15 of them. It may have fallen short of our expectation, they are all enthusiastic enough to give benefiting elderly clean homes for the New Year.

Money Raised
Over HK$2,000
Visitors of the on-campus booth had been very generous that we raised over HK$2,000 in the days of holding booths.
It may be a moderate number, but the most important things for the whole project is to introduce the Host to more people, and donation is rather optional.

Social Media Reactions
Over 300 more "Likes"
Over the three months of promotion, we garnered over 300 "Likes" for the Facebook page of the Host. Comparing with other teams in the FYP, our group was effective enough to promote the Host to students, which are our target audience.
I grew up a lot during this project!
It was a great experience, indeed, learning many things, like leadership skills. I will never forget this. Thanks to my teammates and host for providing such a valuable experience.
